This is the one.  Our proprietary signature House Blend.  Debbie worked with our roaster for nearly a year to come up with this blend of four beans from around the globe.  We believe this flavorful coffee is perfect for every day drinking. Available in Regular and Decaf.

Our Dark Roast is an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe.  That's a 'single-source' bean.  That's important because this bean is roasted longer and hotter to release the unique characteristics of this particular bean.

Don't confuse this with your typical dark roast coffee.  Many roasters overcook their beans to hide flaws in a blend of beans that weren't of the first quality.  They then package this as dark roast.  The overroasting 'homogenizes' the flavor to the lowest common (barely) palatable flavor.  We wouldn't do that.

Our Dark Roast is an organic and Fair Trade coffee.  It's  smooth and flavorful and in coffee parlance it would be considered 'dry' and 'delicate'.

To brew the perfect cup of coffee;

1)  Buy the freshest, best quality coffee you can. Say, oh, from us for example :)  Avoid buying coffee from places who have the 30 pound burlap sacks of coffee on the floor of the shop.  While it looks quaint, that coffee is well past its prime.  The coffee that you get from a major chain was sitting in a wherehouse in York, PA last month.  Remember, coffee begins to lose its flavor significantly in about two weeks.

2)  Make sure you have the appropriate grind for your type of coffee maker.  For a home drip coffee maker ask for a 'medium to fine' grind or if you are doing it yourself the grind should be about the size of fresh-ground pepper.

3)  Measure - Try to use the same amount of coffee each time.  You will notice a significant difference in the flavor of your coffee if you measure as opposed to 'eyeballing' how much coffee you are using.  Start with one slightly-heaping teaspoonful per each cup brewed and then adjust from there.

4)  Use clean, clear, cold water.  Your coffee house should use filtered water.  If you have bad water, it doesn't matter how good your coffee is, it will taste bad.

5)  Clean your equipment.  Residual in your pot and coffee maker will greatly impact flavor.  At the shop we cleaned each urn, brewer, and espresso machine every night.

6)  Store your coffee in an airtight container at room temperature.  Don't store it in the freezer or fridge.  I'm not sure where that idea started, but storing your coffee that way dries out and destroys the essential oils that give your coffee its flavor.

These few steps will greatly enhance your coffee drinking experience.  Enjoy!

Dear Friends,
Please see a note on pricing at the bottom of this page.
Thanks!
Dear Friends,

Do to the volatility in the green coffee market and the activities of the commodities traders (you know those guys who made your house worth half and continue to monkey with gas prices?) We are unfortunately forced to raise our coffee prices.

We held off as long as we could but there has been approximately a 95%increase in costs over the last 18 months.  We will continue to bring the same great coffees, low shipping fees, and same great service.  Thank you for your loyalty!
